If you are a fan of the Naruto universe, you know that Sasuke and Sakura have a long history. 📖 From their debut as Ninjas on Team Seven to the final scene where they oversee Sarada, Boruto, and Mitsuki in Boruto: Naruto the Movie, we've seen these two characters go through a lot of hardships.
The story of Sakura and Sasuke began as an unrequited romantic tale. Although Naruto is a shonen aimed at men, the creator, Masashi Kishimoto, has incorporated romance into the series. At first, Sakura started as one of Sasuke's fangirls, but as she spent time with him as a teammate and got to know him, her feelings evolved from admiration to true. love.
Sakura's devotion to Sasuke has been well received by fans around the world and these fans have given the pair the name SasuSaku. Since then, the couple has been one of the most popular duos of all time. ⏱️
If you want to know more about Naruto's teammates, here are 15 things you didn't know about Sasuke and Sakura.
15. SASUKE DID NOT EXIST IN THE ORIGINAL DESIGN OF NARUTO
When Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto ✒️ initially conceptualized the series, Sasuke Uchiha was not written in the initial draft. Sasuke did not exist in Naruto's world until Kishimoto's editor-in-chief suggested that Naruto needed a rival to progress.
After receiving the advice, Kishimoto created Sasuke by taking ideas from an old manga and anime character named Sasuke Sarutobi. This character is known as a legendary ninja who has the agility of an ape and the ability to ward off lightning. Additionally, like the Sasuke we know today, Sasuke Sarutobi also fights with a sword. 🗡️
In addition to the similarities in fighting styles, Sasuke Sarutobi also has a companion in his manga/anime series, and, ironically, his name is Sakura.
14. SAKURA WAS THE FIRST TO BEAT AN AKATSUKI MEMBER
During Naruto's second arc, Sakura was the first to defeat a member of the Akatsuki ☁️ with the help of the Ninjas from Suna Village. It was a big-time for developing her heroine status because, during the first arc, Sakura was known to be useless.
Although she was considered a smart student 🧠 with perfect chakra control and a knack for genjutsu, she couldn't compete with Naruto or Sasuke at the start of the series and was generally in the background.
This fight against Sasori proves that Sakura is no longer a damsel in distress. In combat, she showed her superhuman strength, evasive maneuvers, and her ability to unravel a tactical scheme. Sakura may have received a lot of help from Chiyo in this battle, but she has proven that she is no longer the helpless girl she once was.
13. SASUKE IS NOT VERY POLISHED
Apart from the members of his clan, Sasuke does not address anyone with honorary distinctions. For those unfamiliar with honors, this word is a linguistic term used to describe ✒️ any prefixes, suffixes, or titles that are added to a name. For example, in French, the most common are those of M., Mme, and Dr.
In Japan, honorary distinctions are used for language as well as for culture. They are used as expressions of respect and affection and, with the right inflection, can be used as an insult. 🖕 Examples of honors Japanese are -san, -sama, -chan, -chan, -Kun, and sensei. The use of honors is crucial in terms of Japanese ethics.
12. THE 12 HOBBYS OF SAKURA ARE THE QUESTIONNAIRE GAMES
In the data collections, it has been revealed that Sakura indulges in quizzes and memorizing new documents for her medical studies. 🌱
During a flashback in episode 406 of Naruto Shippuden, it was shown that within 3 months, Sakura had read every book in Tsunade's medical library. 📚 It's an incredible achievement, especially since he's the kind of person who uses his knowledge in his daily life and career.
Although Sakura was not seen playing trivia games in the manga or the anime just as she was shown studying medicine, the fact that she played these kinds of games for fun speaks volumes about her intelligence. Quizzes are typically used to stimulate the mind, so the fact that she played them shows that she was determined to move her mind forward.
11. SASUKE IS THE YOUNGEST MEMBER OF THE TAKA TEAM
If you didn't already know, Sasuke was the youngest member of Team Taka. This four-man team, originally named Team Hebi, is the crew that Sasuke formed after defeating his master, Orochimaru. 🐍 Sasuke first formed this team intending to locate his older brother Itachi Uchiha; the man who murdered the Uchiha clan (except Sasuke).
Members of the Taka team include Suigetsu Hozuki, Karin Uzumaki, and Jugo. When Sasuke formed this team, he was around sixteen. Karin and Suigetsu were probably 16 and 17, while Jugo was between 18 and 19. Although age doesn't matter in Shonen anime, the fact that Sasuke was able to lead a team of Ninja Assassins at such a young age is amazing. 😱
10. SAKURA IS CONSIDERED ONE OF THE WORLD'S GREATEST MEDICAL NINJAS
By the end of the series, Sakura was considered one of the greatest medical ninjas in the world. To be recognized as one of the best, Sakura had to work hard for it. After deciding to try and assist Naruto and Sasuke, she applied to be the fifth Hokage's apprentice and disciple of the legendary Sanin, Tsunade. Tsunade saw Sakura's potential and decided to hire her as a student. 👩🎓
In three years, Sakura mastered the art of medical Jutsu, surpassing her Senpai, Shizune, and was able to master both jutsus: " Creation and Renewal" and "Supreme Creation and Renewal". 📜 Keep in mind that without Sakura, many Shinobis such as Naruto, Kakashi, Kankuro, Hinata, Karin, and Gaara would have died in battle. Whether you like him or not, his role as a medical ninjawas crucial in countless battles!
9. SASUKE IS THE SECOND CHARACTER IN THE SERIES TO RECEIVE A DERIVATIVE SERIES
In 2014, Sasuke starred in his spinoff series titled "The Legend of Sasuke Uchiha's Sharingan" written by Kenji Taira, Masashi Kishimoto's assistant mangaka. The first Naruto spin-off series titled " Rock Lee and the Spring of Youth - Ninja Training at Full Power" debuted in 2010, and was so successful that it later became a television series. 📺
The Legend of Sasuke Uchiha's Sharingan was a manga created to show Sasuke in a humorous form. Throughout the story, Sasuke and Team Taka encountered many situations that amounted to comedic gags. 😹
For example, in the chapter entitledKonoha, Sasuke finds himself briefly in Konoha to retrieve a scroll from his old family home. Sakura and Naruto follow him and challenge him to try to stop him from leaving. Unfortunately, they fail to keep Sasuke in the village.
8. SAKURA HAS APPEARED IN ALL NARUTO FILMS
Apart from Naruto, not all of the characters in the series make it into Masashi Kishimoto's films. The exception is Sakura 🌸, indeed she starred in all the Naruto films. Why? She's the heroine, of course.
Although Kishimoto said in an interview with Kobayashi that he first tried to establish Hinata as a heroine towards the end of the series, Sakura once again became the first lady of the saga. Just because Hinata is Naruto's girlfriend, and popular in fan polls, doesn't mean she's necessarily suitable for the role of the lead female character.
The heroine should be someone who interacts with the main members of the series. Sakura and Hinata are two great characters, but Sakura was needed to move the plot forward. This is why it was so important for her to appear in every Naruto movie. 🎬
7. SASUKE HAS A DOMINANT CROSSED POSITION
All ninjas in the Naruto universe are capable of two-handed fighting. It's a no-brainer, but it doesn't mean that both sides of the fighters' bodies are dominant. Sasuke is one of the few to have a cross dominance.
For those unfamiliar with the term, it is also known as "mixed hand" or "mixed dominance", and is considered a manifestation of motor skill in which a person uses one hand for certain tasks. and the other hand for others. For example, a cross-dominant person can write with their right hand but hold their tennis racket with their left hand. Sasuke typically hits and uses his Chidori with the left hand and writes or wields his sword with the right hand. ⚔️
6. SAKURA WOULD MAKE THE BEST NINJA INSTRUCTOR ON TEAM 7
In the June 2006 issue of US Shonen Jump, Masashi Kishimoto ✒️ stated that Sakura is considered the best Sensei among Team 7, despite her personality flaws.
Unlike her two teammates, Sakurastudied human psychology, and with the help of these studies, she knows how to interact with people. Unlike Sakura, Sasuke is not very social. If you've watched Boruto then you know Sasuke is far from the best Sensei. His teaching style is to target 🎯 students with a certain potential and brief them after class.
Naruto, on the other hand, has great people skills, but his teaching abilities are flawed. Besides teaching Rasengan to a youngster from Konoha, Naruto also taught him a risky technique in which the user turns into a naked woman. At least with Sakura, it's easy to guess that she knows the limit not to cross.
5. A SCENE BETWEEN SASUKE AND SAKURA IS RANKED AMONG THE BEST SEGMENTS IN THE SERIES
The scene between Sasuke and Sakura in chapter 181 is ranked as the best scene in Naruto Data Book 2. 📚 In this chapter, Sasuke concluded that he no longer belongs to Konoha and must follow Orochimaru to become a ninja strong enough to beat his older brother Itachi. Sakura has the feeling that he intends to leave the village, so she waits for him at the exit of it.
Here Sakura confronts him and makes a sincere confession, telling him that if he stayed with her, there would be no regrets and that every day would be a happy day. She even suggests that if he refuses to stay, she would be ready to go with him. Sasukeknows the path to revenge isn't for Sakura, so he thanks her, knocks her out, and leaves her on a bench before leaving. 🛋️
This scene between the two protagonists was incredibly moving. The last time Sakura confessed her feelings to Sasuke, it was a fangirl who knew nothing about him. However, in this scene, it is clear that Sakura's feelings have evolved from the stage of admiration to love.
4. SASUKE AND SAKURA ARE THE ONLY MEMBERS OF THE SAME TEAM TO END TOGETHER
Of all of Naruto's classmates, Sasuke and Sakura were the only members of the same team to get married and have a family. 💑
It is implied that Sakura and Sasuke got married, as Sakura's library contains Uchiha's coat of arms. 🌖 Kishimoto also confirmed this fact and wrote a mini-sequence: “Naruto Gaiden, the 7th Hokage and the Scarlet Moon” which explains the birth of Sarada and the relationship between Sasuke and Sakura.
3. SAKURA IS THE LAST PERSON SASUKE WANTED TO HURT
While Sasuke may have tried to kill Sakura in chapter 485 of the manga and episode 214 of Shippuden, it should be noted that he was in a rabid state of mind.At the same time, Sasuke had just learned that he had wrongly killed his brother. He found out that senior officials in his home village oversaw the massacre of his clan and that his brother was forced to act as a double agent in all of this bloodshed. 🩸Sasuke shouldn't have tried to kill Sakura, but he was only trying to protect himself. Indeed the replacement Hokage, Danzogave the order to kill Sasuke because he was now considered a Nukenin. Sakura couldn't stand the thought of someone hurting her, so she decided she was the only person who could do it. Regardless of everything that happened in these chapters/episodes, Sasuke apologized to Sakura at the end of the series. 🙏
2. SASUSAKU RANKED IN TOP 10 IN SURVEY FOR MOST REBLOGGED SHIP
In 2015, SasuSaku was ranked 7th in the poll for Tumblr's Most reblogged Ship. Tumblr defines "ship" as a "short name for" relationship "; an imaginary romantic couple of two people, fictional or not." 💑The ships that beat SasuSaku were Larry Stylinson (Harry Styles & Louis Tomlinson from One Direction), Dan & Phil (Youtuber Dan Howell & Phil Lester), Destiel (Dean Winchester & Castiel from Supernatural), Olicity (Oliver Queen & Felicity Smoak of Arrow), Captain Swan (Captain Hook and Emma Swan from Once Upon a Time) and Korrasami (Korra and Asami from Legend of Korra).Even though they didn't win the top spot, it's quite interesting that, of all the ships in Naruto, SasuSaku was the most popular and managed to rank very high in this poll. 📑
1. THE KICK ON THE SAKURA FRONT HAS BEEN DESCRIBED AS AN ULTIMATE EXPRESSION OF LOVE
At the end of the series, Sasuke showed Sakura his ultimate expression of love by punching her on the forehead. Throughout the flashbacks ⚡, Sasuke is seen being punched on the forehead by his older brother Itachi. At first, he thought that his older brother wanted to create a distance with him, but later he realized that this gesture was how Itachi was showing his love to him.
When Sakura suggested leaving the village with Sasuke at the end of the series, he refused her offer and punched him on the forehead instead. This speaking gesture and louder than any kiss or confession, since this gesture was Sasuke's way of saying "wait for me", I will be back!
On the very last page of the Naruto short story: The Story of Sakura by Masashi Kishimoto and Tomohito Ohsaki, it's Sakura who greets Sasuke.
